Quill is made for personal bloggers and essayists who value clarity, with a layout that gets out of the way and lets your writing lead.

The homepage opens with your latest posts in a simple, uncluttered list. Readers can see what you publish at a glance and jump straight to the subjects they care about.

Inside each post, a comfortable measure, clear headings and well-styled cards make long reads a pleasure on any screen. Pull quotes, galleries and footnotes all have a considered place on the page.

Design and layout

The homepage leads with your most important work, followed by a clean grid of recent posts and colour-coded topic sections. Every layout adapts to phones, tablets and desktops, and readers can switch between light and dark mode.

Built on native Ghost features

Quill works with Ghost 6.x and newer and styles every editor card, including galleries, bookmarks, callouts, toggles and embeds. Native search and comments are built in. Your accent colour and tag colours are set from Ghost Admin, with no code needed. Author pages show each writer’s bio and social links, posts can have several authors, and both primary and secondary navigation are supported. Every label can be translated.

Members and subscriptions

Quill supports Ghost memberships from the first day. Visitors sign up, sign in and subscribe through Portal, and you can publish free, members-only or paid posts. Gated posts carry a clear label so readers know what to expect, and members manage their account and billing on their own.

Performance and extras

The code is lightweight, so pages load quickly even on slow connections, and a clean, metadata-rich structure helps search engines understand your content. A newsletter signup block sits above the footer, footer columns are built from your secondary navigation, and the copyright line accepts custom HTML.
